# Sequencer Knowledge Docs: FedRAMP 20x, CR26, and Community Discussions, Updated Nightly

> Plain-English summaries of the FedRAMP Consolidated Rules for 2026 and what FedRAMP staff say about them, written for cloud service providers.

This site explains the [FedRAMP Consolidated Rules for 2026](https://www.fedramp.gov/2026/) in plain English. It also tracks what FedRAMP staff say about those rules in the [FedRAMP community discussions](https://github.com/FedRAMP/community/discussions).

## Who it's for

This site is for teams at cloud service providers (CSPs) that hold, or are working toward, a FedRAMP Certification.

* **Executives** get the bottom line first: what each ruleset makes you do, by when, and how strict it is.
* **Engineers and compliance leads** get the detail: every rule ID, its force (MUST, SHOULD or MAY), class differences, timeframes and the deliverables you have to produce.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **These summaries aren't the rules.** The official text at [fedramp.gov/2026](https://www.fedramp.gov/2026/) governs. FedRAMP's machine-readable source of truth is the [FedRAMP Rules repository](https://github.com/FedRAMP/rules). Every summary here links to the official rule it describes, so check the source before you act on anything.

## How this site stays current

* **Nightly sync.** Every night, automation pulls the latest [FedRAMP/2026-markdown](https://github.com/FedRAMP/2026-markdown) release (the Markdown edition of the official rules) and the latest posts from the [FedRAMP community discussions](https://github.com/FedRAMP/community/discussions).
* **Review.** Each nightly update opens a pull request. It's published automatically only if the site builds with no broken links, it edits only existing rule summaries, discussion digests or the changelog, it adds no pages, and it changes 200 lines or fewer. Anything else waits for a person to review it.
* **Staff versus community.** Discussion digests quote only FedRAMP staff posts as FedRAMP positions. Community comments are context, not guidance. A staff comment never overrides the published rule.
* **Release tracking.** Each rule summary names the upstream release it was checked against. The current release is `2026.10.14.01`. See [What changed](/docs/changelog.md) for the history.
